ANTI-RACISM RESOURCES

June 5, 2020

Today is Breonna Taylor’s birthday. I have been thinking about her all morning because she should be here celebrating turning 27. Remember when you turned 27? I do. It was a pretty average day. I was also alive to celebrate it. If you do one thing today to support Black lives, take one of the actions from this site to seek justice for Breonna’s family. **Side note: justice for Breonna doesn’t stop at arresting and convicting the officers responsible for her murder. Real justice is overturning the systems in place that allowed it to happen.

Here’s what we're doing as a (queer white Latina woman owned) business to support the anti-racism:

  • Louise Goods has donated to the Brooklyn Bail Fund, Just Leadership USA, and The TransWomen of Color Collective.
  • We are creating a new section of our business that will refocus our collective dollars into BIPOC businesses.
  • We are committed to putting in time with BIPOC led organizations in a way that supports the work already being done to effect policy change.

Below you will find a collection of resources to continue your own anti-racism education, along with several regional lists of Black restaurants to support, and organizations that need your support.

White people who have been activated against these racial injustices: Stay engaged, stay mad, stay on task. We have so much work to do - and all of it requires us to put aside our feelings (pride, shame, guilt, fragility) and follow the lead of the BIPOC already doing the work.

This is a marathon: Get good rest and stay hydrated. If you’re protesting, wear a mask. There is still a pandemic on the loose, and we are in this for the long haul.
